A Worker is a Unit that performs the bulk of a Nation's economic development. Orders may be used to assign Workers to build Improvements on tiles in a player's territory, which may generate Yields each turn or improve the output of a nearby City. Once a Worker has been assigned to build an Improvement, the Worker must remain on that tile, automatically consuming one order each turn, until the Improvement is completed (the amount of turns needed is determined by the type of Improvement). Workers may be upgraded into Militia (or, if unlocked, Conscripts) for 100 Training, allowing them to contribute during wartime if necessary.

Workers are produced in Cities for 60 Growth each, plus 10 for each Worker previously trained in that City. A Worker will be of the same Family as the City that produced it, and will take one additional turn to build Improvements outside Family territory. Workers may also be acquired through the Free Worker Bonus Card, unlocked by Administration, and by founding the Artisans Family Seat.
